THE COMPANY
Shortbread House is a small, family run bakery based in Edinburgh. We employ a team of highly skilled bakers and all our products are handmade.
We sell to department stores, delicatessens, hamper companies and other specialist retail outlets. We also supply many leading hotels and restaurants.
AWARDS
Our products have consistently won the top awards in the coveted Great Taste Awards. These are awarded after blind tastings carried out by experts under the supervision of the Guild of Fine Food Retailers.
WHAT MAKES OUR PRODUCTS DIFFERENT
1. Our products are handmade, (and not “hand-baked” - a misleading term used by other companies). This makes a huge difference to the texture of our shortbread. Factory-made brands, for example, are pre-moulded which results in a much denser texture and less homemade appearance and taste.
2. We use the finest ingredients. Again, other companies make the claim that they use high quality ingredients but we have taken trouble to source the best butter, stem ginger, chocolate and other items. When we find a good and loyal supplier, we do not change them in order to obtain a lower price.
3. Our products are sold fresh. We do not use distributors in the UK but supply direct to all our customers. This means our products are made to order and delivered directly to customers. Compared to most of our competitors, we apply a shorter “Best Before” date to our products to ensure that they are enjoyed at their best.
